It has been over 2 years since I have posted a journal entry on here. Since then much has changed. (I'd hope so, 2 years is a long time :P )

My favorite aspect of art is that you can always improve, there is never a point you reach where you are the best you can be as an artist. Life is always morphing thus so is an artists work. Each new project is a new chance to do the best work you have ever done, but there's always the chance you will do the worst. It doesn't even matter. Even as a professional you still have the chance to create the worst work of your life. (best and worst being judged on the scale an artist has of their own work)

The last 2 years I have learned to let go a little more with my work and with who I am as an artist. I spent a year in a studio and learned that I am happiest shooting out on my own. As much as I love photography it will never be my main source of income. My personality cannot survive a studio atmosphere for long. Working in the studio taught me a lot of technical aspects and I met some talented, wonderful, artists whom I am still close friends with. It's what I needed at the time and now it is time to move on from the commercial world.

An artists gallery is a roller coaster of emotion through the years and it is fun to see how a person changes by looking at their work. What did they focus on 7 years ago in a portrait and what do they focus on now? What kind of techniques have stayed the same, or is their style completely different? What happened in the years when there are almost no postings? You can learn a lot browsing a gallery. I've been on here for over 7 years now, my earliest digital work is posted here. Deviant Art is awesome.

Almost A Year

1 min read
I just realized it's been 364 days or so since I have updated this journal. Much has happened and much has changed. Which is a good thing. I am getting married to Mr. Ben Heighton ( www.maliceinplunderland.deviantart.com ) on the 19th day of March, 2009. One week!!! *dances* I have been very much addicted to my camera, and I blame a lot of that on him and triggering inspiration of sorts. :-P I have many photo shoot plans for the future. I did my first pin up shoot recently as well as my first DJ photo shoot. Don't Stop Rockin'!!!! Life is awesome. And spring is almost here! Days and daze away!

Damn inanimate objects are so hard to take pictures of! I can't tell them, "Oh, move there, the light is so perfect, now look angry the sun is prettier than you and you hate it, that's right, there."

*sigh*

So Excited

1 min read
Later today I am doing a photo shoot that I am so very excited about. I have never been this excited for some reason. Usually my shoots are last minute, not really set up and such. But I will be spending the day getting ready for this one and I am really going to prepare the model. She is a beautiful friend of mine and I can't wait to work with her.

*squiggle squirm*

Let's see how this goes. :-)
